Launcher 1.6.10: Download Progress and Clarity Tuning

Graphics downloads previously reported a filename without showing how much data had arrived. They now show a percentage bar, downloaded and total bytes, measured speed, the current file and files remaining. Installation has a separate count that advances after each file passes verification. Valid cached graphics files are reused, stalled transfers show zero speed, and a transfer with no data for 60 seconds fails without activating incomplete files. Client updates also display transfer speed and files left to install.

Graphics now has Stable, Original and DLAA-only Clarity tuning. Stable is the default: it uses one Cinematic neural pass, reduces transfer strength from 2.0 to 0.85 and intensity from 1.3 to 1.0, and lowers the brightness limit from 3.6 to 2.0. Original restores the supplied relighting values. DLAA-only disables neural relighting and keeps anti-aliasing history for a smoothing comparison; that may introduce blur or ghosting during motion. These options apply at the next launch with the game and helper closed. Previous configuration is backed up, and later manual edits survive repeated setup until a different tuning is selected.

ReShade tutorial progress is marked complete in both the game and helper configurations so its startup prompt can clear after loading. The overlay shortcuts remain available. Automatic Clarity setup continues to require RTX 50-series hardware and NVIDIA driver 616.56 or newer. Tests covered download progress, cache reuse, cancellation, rejected files, the actual launcher controls, tuning changes, existing-install migration and restoration of original graphics files. The launcher and installer are Microsoft Artifact Signed. Motion-related shadow flashing has been reported; these conservative settings are comparison tools, and a cure or optimal visual quality has not been verified in FFXI. No game-server restart was needed.

Launcher 1.6.9: Automatic DLSS 5 Clarity Setup

Graphics now has an optional DLSS 5 Clarity automatic setup alongside launcher-managed dgVoodoo2 and Custom graphics. It downloads the complete Clarity 1.2.1 package, including matching NVIDIA-signed runtimes, shaders and textures, checks every file, sets the background buffer to 4096x4096 and saves the selection after setup succeeds. No separate DLL hunt is required. The graphics download is about 372 MB and is requested only when this mode is selected.

This pinned graphics path requires an NVIDIA RTX 50-series GPU and driver 616.56 or newer. First setup asks you to accept the NVIDIA runtime terms and runs a 300-frame helper test; both frame evaluation and a successful neural pass must be confirmed. A GPU or driver change runs the helper test again. The default preset and optional Strong and QuantMotion presets are included. Compatible QuantMotion and QuantAO shaders were sourced from official source history to match the preset; the QuantMotion preset also enables its Kernel guides.

Original graphics files are backed up before installation. Returning to Standard or launcher-managed dgVoodoo2 restores them, and personal Clarity configuration is retained separately. An interrupted installation has a recovery record. Automatic setup refuses unknown conflicting wrappers and preserves them for review; Custom graphics remains available for a manually maintained setup.

Local tests passed installation, settings persistence, mode switching and recovery from an interrupted write. On an RTX 5080 with driver 617.42, the helper completed 300 of 300 evaluations with neural-pass confirmation, and all three presets passed a 32-bit rendering and shader-compilation test. These checks do not establish FFXI visual quality, zoning, overlay compatibility or gameplay performance; those still need an in-game check. The launcher and installer are Microsoft Artifact Signed. No game-server restart was needed.

Launcher 1.6.8: 4096x4096 Background Resolution

Graphics now includes 4096x4096 in the Background resolution dropdown for players following Clarity setup instructions that require a square background buffer. Choose the preset and click Save settings; it applies on the next game launch.

The actual launcher controls passed checks for selecting the preset, saving and reloading both dimensions, and generating a launch profile with background width and height set to 4096. Game-window and menu dimensions were also checked to remain independent. The launcher and installer are Microsoft Artifact Signed. These checks verify configuration behavior; Clarity rendering and performance still need an in-game test. No game-server restart was needed.

Launcher 1.6.7: Preserve Clarity and Custom Graphics

The launcher could move a manually installed dgVoodoo DLL out of the bootloader when its dgVoodoo checkbox was off. Clarity uses that DLL as part of its own rendering chain, so this cleanup could break an otherwise configured install. Ordinary checks now restore only launcher-owned graphics files and preserve untracked wrappers and settings instead of moving or deleting them.

Graphics now offers DLSS 5 Clarity / custom (manual install) alongside launcher-managed dgVoodoo2. The saved Custom mode leaves graphics files and the existing ownership record unchanged, including when Clarity uses exactly the same DLL as a previous managed profile. Compatibility launch and failed-launch handling also preserve Custom mode. Choosing Custom does not install Clarity: the setup-guide button opens its 1.2.1 release, and players must supply its required NVIDIA runtime DLLs separately.

File tests covered managed-profile restoration, stale ownership records, manual dgVoodoo and ReShade preservation, and failed or interrupted installations. The actual launcher controls were checked for visibility, mutually exclusive selection and saved preferences. The launcher and installer are Microsoft Artifact Signed. Clarity rendering on a player GPU still needs an in-game test; these checks verify launcher behavior, not visual quality or frame rate. No game-server restart was needed.

Fire and Brimstone: Protecting Ranger Quest Progress

The Fire and Brimstone investigation found that replaying the quest-start cutscene callback could reset an accepted quest to its first step, including progress already earned at the Eldieme Gravestone. That callback now accepts the quest only when it has not been started. The other progress callbacks also require their correct preceding step, so repeated or stale cutscene finishes cannot rewind the quest.

The complete acceptance-to-Castle Oztroja path and repeated callbacks passed 106 local Lua checks. These safeguards were applied without restarting game services. An in-game retest is still needed to confirm the reported loop is resolved; we have not established why the original callback repeated. Existing characters are not automatically advanced, and the normal Scavenge and Old Earring requirements remain in place.

Shared Spell Fixes, Gambit Controls, Monomi and Mission Waits

Blue Magic debuffs now retain their intended effect tier, and Auroral Drape applies Blindness alongside Silence instead of requesting Bind. This correction does not change spell unlock levels.

Glittering Ruby and enhancing spells now report no effect when the server rejects a buff, rather than claiming it was applied. Shared enhancing, song and enfeebling handlers also reject unsupported spell IDs safely instead of reading missing spell data.

Player Auto-Abilities now includes eligible subjob ability rules. The previous default sheet loaded only the main-job profile, so an MNK/WAR could ignore Berserk and Warcry despite having access to them. The new rules use actual main and subjob levels through level 75, preserve learned-ability and recast checks, and keep Defender conditional on low HP while holding hate. Player special abilities remain reserved for manual use.

Each owned Party Gambits row now has a WS mode selector. Melee permits only melee weapon skills, Ranged permits only Archery and Marksmanship weapon skills, and the default Hybrid mode can choose either for skillchains. The server remembers the selection by character and job, including Recruit job preferences. Auto-WS must still be enabled, and the AI holds TP if no legal weapon skill matches the selected mode. Manual weapon skills are unchanged.

Monomi: Ichi is available from Toji Mumosulah in Kazham at a base price of 9,590 gil, adjusted by Windurst fame. Ninja level 25 is still required to learn it, and casting consumes one Sanjaku-Tenugui. The original Clothcraft 41 tool recipe is available with an Earth Crystal, two Cotton Threads and two Cotton Cloths; its normal and HQ yields remain 33, 66, 99 and 99. The Mercantile Guild can craft the tools, including orders supplied with your materials. Existing toolbag exchanges are preserved. This is a specific exception: Amalasanda remains closed, and quest and battlefield scrolls gain no new shop source.

San d'Oria Mission 8-1, Coming of Age, waits one real-world minute after returning the drops of Amnio to Halver before the final Northern San d'Oria cutscene. An era override had replaced the mission's one-minute timer with Japanese midnight. Existing future midnight deadlines shorten to at most one minute on the next entry to Northern San d'Oria; repeated entries do not restart that wait. Enter Northern San d'Oria again after the timer expires to see the cutscene.

The combined engine passed 165 gameplay regression tests. The Monomi changes also passed seven native acceptance tests on each engine, including normal shop purchase, learning, casting, synthesis, toolbag exchange and a Guild order with exact material, fee and delivery checks. Jackel’s experimental Recruit AI and private test addon remain restricted to Dynamis.

Server Performance: Indexed Guild Stock Lookups

Guild stock and receipt lookups now have dedicated item indexes. The existing stock index began with merchant name, so lookups by item alone scanned more than 66,000 lots; those synchronous searches ran alongside game activity on the map thread. The new indexes let the database find the relevant item records directly. Local migration and rollback tests preserved all 20,000 synthetic rows and returned identical query results. This changes lookup efficiency, not prices, crafting odds, purchase rules, stock quantities or player inventory. No game-server restart is required. Movement timing remains under investigation; this update does not move game entities or inventory transactions to another thread.

Server Performance: Lighter World Chat Queries

The website's Titan Linkshell, Mercantile Guild and Yell feeds now select their latest 200 messages before looking up character portraits. Previously, each refresh joined the full chat history to character records first, adding unnecessary database CPU load on the same VPS used by the game. Read-only comparisons returned the same messages and portraits; the two busy feed queries fell from roughly 454 and 332 milliseconds to 33 and 31 milliseconds in that sample. This reduces avoidable competition for server resources, but it is not a claim that every source of gameplay lag is resolved. No game-server restart or gameplay rules changed.
